What happens when a creative idea turns into a business and eventually becomes your full-time career?

For Sarah and Blair Dawes, that journey started in 2007. Today, their whimsical, hand-sculpted pottery is instantly recognizable and has found its way into homes across Canada, the United States and beyond, all while continuing to be created by hand from their home studio in Airdrie.

During the fireside chat, Sarah and Blair will share the story behind Salty Sea Dog Designs from building a distinctive brand and loyal following to turning their creativity into a successful business and navigating growth without losing the handmade values at the heart of everything they create.

Salty Sea Dog Designs is an Airdrie-based pottery studio founded by husband and wife artists Sarah and Blair Dawes. 

What began as a small creative business in 2007 has grown into their full-time career, with their distinctive hand sculpted animal pottery finding homes across Canada, the United States and beyond. 

Every piece is created by hand in their home studio, combining traditional pottery techniques with playful recognizable designs and strong commitment to craftmanship.

Nearly two decades in, Salty Sea Dog Designs remains proudly small, proudly local and committed to growing a successful business without losing the handmade values it was built on.
